It's hard for a lot of people to swallow, but "retirement" isn't going to be what it once was.

Life expectancies have grown, and work isn't coal mining any more, so the ability and need to work at retirement age has changed. Further, now that bank accounts pay zero, fewer people will be able to stop working. We need to figure out how to employ the elderly.
