Nothing inherently bad about bonuses, but they are quite easy to abuse.

Non-profit is just a misnomer here, though, imo.
Some make a profit, whatever the IRS agrees to. Especially something like Kaiser, where half the net goes to their for-profit subsidiaries.
But whatever, maybe we won't ever agree there.

I have nothing against non-profits, btw. I've worked with quite a few of them, and like the general concept. Most tended to run at a loss, needing to hustle for grants. But a couple paid quite large salaries to incompetent people. Guess they have to do something with the money, and when they have no imagination...
