It does seem that the concept of rehabilitation has been abandoned

At least I rarely see or hear it mentioned now.

This may be in part because the cases that hit the media involve unrepentant sociopaths or murderous psychopaths.

It may also be that few care about those who could be rehabilitated - kids who fall in with a bad crowd & do something foolish - since those who get caught and imprisoned are largely minorities.

And it may be that the prison system is so obviously not set up to rehabilitate that no one even bothers to mention the concept anymore.
