You can't reach kids like that in that way, because they don't take you seriously on the topic. You just don't go home to the same places at night, and they know it acutely.
And if you take it upon yourself, yeah, you could actually put them (or yourself) at risk.
I say stick to the ways that you can actually influence them in a credible manner. You can't change that entire environment.
Teach them that their way out is to keep their noses clean and heads down, and just work for it.
