Brooks was a Republican shill for years, though he has seemed more centrist in the last few.

And the Republican did embrace ugly campaigning over the last 25 years or so. Remember Willie Horton? And it worked.

Finally, Republicans might want to think about how negative they go this time around, because Romney does, indeed, have a glass jaw.
