Try and follow along...

Voters have a list of issues that are important to them. And, whether they know it or not, they prioritize them.

Each candidate has a list of issues that they run on, and they prioritize them.

Now, rarely does any candidate's and voter's list line up exactly, but people vote for the ones who match up the closest in order of priorities.

In other words, Santorum's number one priority was not to do away with contraception. You know damned well that it is a personal belief of Catholics. It had little to do with the election. The only reason it did was because the left and the willing media tried their best to demonize him on it as if it had something to do with the election. Many of his supporters are not Catholics and could give a damn about that religious belief.

What do we care about most? Jobs. What was the number one priority of all of the GOP candidates? Jobs. What was the second priority? Economic growth. The candidates? Economic growth. Go on down the list....repealing ObamaCare, a sound energy policy, simplifying the tax structure, ensuring that entitlements will still be here for our kids, and on and on. Notice how "getting rid of contraceptives" is not on the list? Notice how only the most important issues facing the country are the top seven?

So, what separates the candidates then? It comes down to trust for some people. For others it's how the candidate plans on achieving their objectives.

Bottom line, with the exception of Paul, none of the candidates top seven priorities were close to being "far right" or "radical" or anything close to that. They are aligned with the majority of people.
