I will point out that the bulk of those deaths were from Dubya's ill-conceived decision to completely dismantle the Iraqi government without having a plan for what would replace it.

A different prosecution of the same war would have resulted in far fewer civilian deaths. Or, I suppose, one that was even more obviously a proxy civil war with the Shiites backed by Iran.
