Roughly 40% of reg voters say they are Conservative.

20% say they are Liberals.

There are slightly more reg Dems than Reps.

That means that of the 40% who are neither Lib or Con, some are independents, and the remainder are moderates of both parties.

To the primaries...who has the money for attack ads and a large ground game?

Who does the establishment want? They're pushing Romney as well.

So, the Conservatives are left thinking not only about who is the most Conservative but also some are buying into the whole "electability" thing. Newt might have better ideas, and Rick more steadfast, but Mitt's more appealing to a broader range of voters, so some Conservatives are just saying "WTF, we just want Obama outta there before we can't recover".
