but, note that this is not an executive branch issue at all, so that does not apply

medicare, ss etc. might not survive a challenge under this court either

but also remember that the SC can do all kinds of things, many of which would surprise all the recently-minted SC experts surfacing this week....

e.g., the SC could say the mandate is unconstitutional, and simultaneously make an elaborate argument for the necessity of universal coverage, backing the country into a single-payer system of some sort. Not saying it will happen. But there can be surprises.
