there was a warming period in Medieval times, where the planet was as warm (or slightly warmer) than it is now.

the planet cooled and there was a mini ice-age that centered almost at 1776. (GW's famous winter at Valley Forge really was seriously fucking cold)

by the time of the US Civil War the planet warmed and the worlds glaciers started retreating. They continued to retreat for maybe 70 years before very much manmade CO2 was put into the atmosphere.

the earth has continued to warm to this day. The CO2 has added maybe 1 degree Celsius. but the main trend was going in that direction

blaming all this change on CO2 is wrong, ASFAIK. the people that do are pack animals. they play the denialist card instead of debating, because that's what they have. They manipulate data without even noticing they are doing it

I really did not want to find this to be true. because most of the people that say global warming is not a big deal are Ayn Randian jackasses. but these jackasses turn out to be right, on this one issue.
