today were called "progressives". When progressives were more or less pushed to the background, they re-emerged in the 60s as liberals as Buckley,Goldwater types emerged as conservatives. Now that the word "liberal" is a bad word again, the liberals are now trying "progressive" again.

No matter what they're called, it's still a battle over big government versus small.
