1) The majority of people don't want the current plan(s) passed.

2) It took several back-door bribes just to get votes to get a bill passed in the same party.

3) The GOP offered several bills, but none were even allowed to be brought up for vote.

4) The GOP has not even been approached to talk about health care. Their phone calls and emails go unanswered.

Therefore, the common sense thing for the GOP to do is to let the Dems hang themselves with their own healthcare bills.

They are being approached now because Obama's political capital is about to run out. The threat of coming out of 2010 empty handed is too much to bear. None of the bad parts of the bills will be taken out, and none of the Republican's ideas will be accepted.

The bill won't pass, and the President wouldn't have to lay the blame entirely on Democrats since the GOP would have been involved. So, he can say that he was able to crate bi-partisan support for a small feather in his cap. That's the way I see it.
