It seemed really short.

Incidentally, the mother was in the Philippines at the time. Abortion is illegal there, even if the mother's life is in danger, and that has been the case for a long time. Both the mother and the doctor face a mandatory prison sentence if an abortion is done. In other words, she was probably lying about the doctor encouraging her to abort.
