I too thought that the likelihood of Obama challenging corporate power was very slight. But it's possible that his first task, as he sees it, is to stabilize the economy without destabilizing anything else. When we get back on our feet, he can have more leeway to implement more "change".

One encouraging prospect is that now we have a president who is capable of and will be making the final decisions, rather than a figurehead selected to please a particular party constituency, who has little real power.
