I live in the valley so even if it cost the same as flying, it would be better to take the train from the stockton or modesto stations than to drive all the way to the Sacramento or Oakland airports

it would be cool to go to San Diego for the weekend, stay near the gaslamp district and not need a car.

I am not a big fan of using the rail for commuting unless I worked right next to a station but if enough people used it, I guess that means less traffic and less damage to the roads.
