I've worked at labels for most of my career. And that's just par for the course.

You tinker with bands. Package them up. And if they don't sell, you cut the strings.

That's business, though. And if band's don't want to get into that, then go indie and sell your own sh*t.

As for my comment, it was directed towards the act of the record company, specifically in this instance.

Unless the settlement agreement states very specifically, the types of CD's to be donated -- even I would advise to release all the scrap and overstock -- even promo crap -- that is sitting around catching dust.

That's why they're called "donations."

You aint gonna see me donating my plasma TV... but you'll damn well see me donating my 13 inch black and white with rotary channels.
