is due to the fact that there are enough Americans that go to Europe and act like complete and total idiots that it leaves a bad taste. My experience has taught me to be gracious, try to fit in a little, make ANY attempt to speak the language and don't act like "you assholes would be speaking German if it weren't for us!" If you go over there expecting Outback Steakhouse, Coors Light, NFL and Country Music, you probably should just stay home.
