Is a criminal mind simply an ill mind and all criminals just need treatment?

I don't know... I guess you could change anyone. The question is whether it is possible and worth the effort. A guy that rapes and kills a little kid? Let him rot.

I recently read Under the Banner of Heaven. Not a great book, but it did remind me of how hard it is to tell the difference between someone who is insane such that they shouldn't be responsible for their actions and someone who is just evil. The book was talking about religious crazies... indeed, thinking that God is talking specifically to you and telling you to do things sounds totally nuts to me. But think about how many people in this country actually believe that sort of stuff. Sarah Palin?!?!?!

So, if actually believe that God told you to kill someone and you do it, sounds like you're crazy... but we call people who talk to God sane all the time. So are they crazy simply because their God told them to kill?

I'm rambling. Sorry... LOL

"When I was young
I was so gay and mean,
And I drank and chased the girls
Just like young St. Augustine.
Saint Augustine,
He got to be a saint.
So, if I get to be one, also,
Please. Mama, don't you faint."
