Yeah he was an asshole in the mold of Ike Turner. But once she overcame all her issues, that must've been some great inspiration to write songs.
He did help her get her foot in the industry with the rise of Uptown Records back then as well.
But I agree with you, it's funny to see where both have ended up. Dude is washed up, and I always said his voice wouldn't last with all that screaming. That cat must've torn his vocal chords to shreds.
I used to emulate his singing style as a teenager, and quickly learned that he was using horrible technique, which wouldn't last longer than a 3 song set before starting to fade.
