don't a lot of other countries have a lower drinking age and a higher driving age, resulting in fewer alcohol related car accidents?
i don't have any hard data for this, but i would assume that a good percentage of dui accidents occur with teenagers age 16 and up and adults that are in their low 20s. drinking is a new thing for that group so they might not understand how severely it does impair your abilities.
turn 21, get trashed all the time, drive home. that's the routine plenty of people i know did, including myself, and i'm sure plenty of people here did.
i think if people knew the affects of alcohol first hand before they're able to even get a driver's license, it would lower the number of alcohol related accidents.
