... its going to be pretty toasty today. There have been forecast of rain and thunderstorms this week, but today should be dry and pretty warm (mid 90's, with humidity factored in, a bit over 100).

If you are going to stay near downtown, take the time to explore the different districts. The museum and theater districts have a lot to offer. Houston is a big city, both in population and area, so a rental is really needed (though there is a challenged public transportation system in the downtown area). Fun places to explore outside of the downtown area include Kemah (best described as Santa Cruz in heat), the Johnson Space Center, and Galveston Island (including Moody Gardens). All three are in the same general area, south and east of the city.

The Astros are home against the Brewers and then against the yankees but I believe the NYY series is sold out. I suspect tickets are possible through brokers and scalpers. Minute Maid Park is a great place to watch baseball... perhaps just behind PacBell Park.

Lots of restaurants to choose from, especially if you like TexMex, steaks, and BBQ. Most folks eat out, so expect waits. Also most folks here are really friendly... kids say sir and m'am, people will go out of there way to talk with you.
