A lot of games are kept close artificially.

Some of it is personal relationships among refs and players/teams, but in the playoffs, it's more about trying to generate excitement via creating close games and longer playoff series.

The Sixers and Lakers were picked up off the mat by the refs multiple times tonight before they went out and outperformed their opponents in crunch time.

Yay NBA. It is what it is.
