because the A's were infamous for NOT using "situational baseball" so I don't even know if you understand the meaning behind that term.

The A's saw a lot of pitches, got guys on base, and played station to station baseball. They didn't try to advance the runner, they didn't try to steal and sacrifice, and they didn't play situational baseball.

And you know who else didn't? The Red Sox and the Cardinals.
