On the opposite end of the spectrum from our list of the 10 players most likely to be traded, we present the 10 players most likely to be traded when hell freezes over. It's often said that no one is untradable in a league in which Wilt Chamberlain, Julius Erving, Shaquille O'Neal and Allen Iverson have been dealt, but we're going to go ahead and do it anyway.
These guys are a mix of the untouchable and the untradable, some because of their talent, some because of their contracts:
1. Yao Ming, Rockets. He was playing like an MVP before fracturing his leg late last week, and he's still young enough to be the NBA's most dominant center for the next decade.
2. Tim Duncan, Spurs. Chances of his being traded are roughly equal to those of David Robinson's number being unretired in San Antonio.
3. LeBron James, Cavaliers. He'll remain on this list until 2010, when his contract will be up and he'll be able to force a sign-and-trade from Cleveland if he wants.
4. Kobe Bryant, Lakers. He's the franchise in Los Angeles, but some forget he was traded the night he was drafted, from Charlotte to the Lakers for Vlade Divac.
5. Dwight Howard, Magic. Impossible to say never when you're talking about a franchise that lost Shaq to free agency and traded Tracy McGrady, but you get the point.
6. Steve Nash, Suns. Stays on this list until 2009-10, when he'll be in the last year of his contract and will be (in Mark Cuban's opinion) overpaid at $13.125 million.
7. Chris Webber, 76ers. With Webber making $20.7 million this season and due to make $22.3 million next season, his contract might be too large to move -- even to a team seeking to clear cap space.
8. Erick Dampier, Mavericks. We can debate whether he has improved enough to be worth his $9.8 million salary this season, but there's no arguing he's a cap killer in years ahead. He's owed $47 million over the next four years.
9. Kenyon Martin, Nuggets. Out for the year with a bum knee, he's due $60 million over the next four years.
10. Adonal Foyle, Warriors. You thought Dampier's contract was bad? At least he plays. Foyle is due $30 million over the next three seasons.
